  • Welcome Madi Chitty

    The Surry Arts Council is pleased to welcome Madi Chitty as a new Artistic Director. She is ecstatic to be a new employee for the Surry Arts Council and a new member of the Surry County community! She is originally from Charleston, SC and she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at Ohio Northern University with a minor in Art. She toured for two years with Missoula Children's Theatre's The Frog Prince and Alice in Wonderland in the United States and Canada. Her previous acting credits include: Hedy LaRue in How to Succeed in Business..., Toffee in Zombie Prom, and Rita in White Christmas. Her art mediums of choice include: watercolor, drawing, acrylic painting, and ceramics.

  • Welcome Shelby Coleman

    We are just as pleased to also welcome Shelby Coleman as our other new Artistic Director. Shelby is originally from Kentucky and graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of the Arts in Theatre with minors in Business and Dance. She toured with Missoula Children's Theatre for two years doing productions including: The Frog Prince and Alice in Wonderland. She has also worked as a teaching artist for Lexington Children's Theatre, toured with The Little Company, and taught dance at a collegiate level. Her favorite roles include: Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz, Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes, and Faye McFaye in An Evening of Culture. She can't wait to begin these exciting classes as an Artistic Director for the Surry Arts Council!
